Seattle Center Shooting Leaves 3 Dead, 4 Wounded

A mass shooting Sunday evening at Seattle Center killed three people and injured at least four, including a 2-year-old boy. Seattle Center was hosting the final day of Bite of Seattle when gunshots were heard around 6 p.m. A live stream from the scene shows people hastily abandoning their seats and food.

• The Seattle Times reported two victims died at the scene. A third was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where they died. The Seattle Police Department believes two people were shooting at each other outside the Seattle Center Armory.
• The shooting occurred at the Bite of Seattle food festival, where thousands gather annually to celebrate a summer culinary tradition. King County Executive Girmay Zahilay released a statement saying, in part, "To see violence at a place that brings so many people together is heartbreaking and unacceptable."
• Mayor Katie Wilson called the shooting "an act of horrific violence" and said that one suspect was taken into custody. Another suspect remains at large. The motives and identities of the suspects have not been released. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said it expects to provide its next update late Monday afternoon.
• "We know that many people who were not physically injured will carry what they experienced today for a long time," Mayor Wilson said. "That includes witnesses, workers, first responders, and everyone waiting to learn whether someone they love is safe. Call or text 988 if you or someone you want to help is experiencing a mental health crisis."

✈️ NTSB to investigate San Juan seaplane crash: Last Thursday, a Kenmore Air seaplane crashed near Sucia Island in the San Juans. The plane had left Lake Union and was headed for Roche Harbor when it went down in Shallow Bay. All 10 passengers and the pilot survived, with four passengers transferred to hospitals in Bellingham and Seattle. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. [KUOW]
